To Learn and To Teach… and To Do
To become a mature member of the Jewish community, one should have an appreciation for Jewish life, learning and values, and be able to transmit an understanding of them to others.
To be a Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah means not only to accept the responsibility of mitzvoth, but also to continue to be an active contributor to the Jewish Community.
This program aims to shape the preparation for a Bar Mitzvah/Bat Mitzvah to achieve those goals. This program is designed for both pre- and post B’nei Mitzvah.
Classes are held the first Sunday of every month with the Rabbi for a total of 6 classes.
A Bar Mitzvah Boy
Boys can be called up to the torah for an aliyah, lead the davening, lain (read the torah) and/or haftora. Each bar mitzvah can be customized.
A Bat Mitzvah Girl
Girls can give a speech on the parsha at the conclusion of Shabbat services to the entire congregation, have a bat mitzvah as part of the Women’s Tefillah group on shabbos or have a customized ceremony.
Rabbi Ebbin will meet individually with each Bar Mitzvah Boy/Bat Mitzvah Girl and their parents when scheduling their Simcha with Ohav.
